Papé Recruiting held its 2nd Annual Career Expo for high school students from all around the state on May 15th, 2023 at the Knife River Training Facility in Albany, Oregon. Papé Machinery, Papé Material Handling, Papé Kenworth and Ditch Witch West all participated in bringing in equipment for students to interact with, gave classroom sessions and more.
THE EVENT
Gathering over 60 students and teachers, Papé brought together industry professionals and trade school representatives to give high school students an inside look at options for starting their careers after graduating. Classroom sessions included a Papé overview, A Day in the Life of a Technician, Communication & Leadership and Safety. In addition, representatives from Lane Community College, Linn Benton Community College, Universal Technical Institute, Walla Walla, and WyoTech were in attendance to answer questions and showcase programs for students to explore. Lunch and drinks were provided for all, giving students a chance to participate in corn hole and make new connections with each other, and Papé employees.
PAPÉ SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Papé Machinery and our partnering schools have worked diligently to prepare a curriculum that balances classroom theory, internships and hands-on lab work. Upon graduation students will have the skills, confidence and experience to begin their career. Papé Machinery will reimburse half of their out-of-pocket tuition costs. After completing the program, Papé Machinery will reimburse their remaining out-of-pocket tuition over their first two years of employment with Papé.
